June 16. Our 22nd anniversary!

June 16 could be your day to celebrate with us, by making a commitment to be more organized, AND to help someone else along the way. Note: Six weeks after we got organized, we taught a six-week class to a group of 23 sidetracked home executives. Believe us when we say that helping others get and stay organized will help you become more organized and stay on track.

The joy of being a SHE

Sidetracked Home Executives have a wonderful ability to be sidetracked for the enjoyment of the moment. That might sound to some like a negative, but it's a priceless gift! It's a virtue that gives us a deeper take on life's ordinary events. We're like bats that have special radar so they don't crash into each other in the dark, only our radar hones in on the intangible essence behind things. Along with our special radar, we are also equipped with the wiring to jump into what gets picked up on our radar screens and we can get involved so innocently in ten different projects at once.

We can easily leave the vacuum cleaner in the middle of the living room to soak up the goodness behind one of our children's smiles, tossing us into the rocker with Green Eggs and Ham. We can leave a half-folded pile of laundry on the couch to be renewed by the beauty of a rainbow. We can freely leave the bed half-made by getting caught up in the wonder of God's love given to us daily. We are addicted to the joy of laughter from our friends and family and have been known to leave a wall partly papered to make a phone call and share what has just struck us funny. We are notorious for gallivanting off to get supplies from our humble consumption of abundant creative ideas. Any of our tombstones could read: SHE LOVED LIFE.

Unfortunately, we don't live in a world of essences only. We have to deal with stuff and that's where being organized comes to our defense.

Being organized helps us to focus the right amount of energy on every delicious distraction. If we aren't careful to establish plans, we can get tangled up in our own wonderful wiring and our radar can temporarily turn off.

Summertime is probably the easiest season to get sidetracked. And yet it was on this day 22 years ago, with six kids under 12 that we stopped everything to figure out a plan of defense. Our defense has always been 3x5 cards, until we figured out how to use a personal planner along with them. A personal planner allows us to clutch a whole year at a glance. The planner is like the general in an army, it leads us strategically to where we are suppose to be. Our 3x5 cards are like drill sergeants reminding us what to do once we're there. With a planner we can organize the abundance of ideas that come to us and get them out of the idea realm into something for others to enjoy. If you have tried to use a planner in the past and it didn't serve you well, it's not your fault. The planners on the market were designed for born organized people. Our planner was designed to be sidetracked user friendly. Our Sidetracked Home Executive planners will be available at the conference August 20. However watch for a bulletin very soon on this web-site for a pre-production special price. You will be able to order it early and save money. Watch for our announcement in the next few days.

Our summer advice to you is to honor your sidetracked nature. Get a plan that enables you to savor the summer as well as take care of the stuff that has to be done.

Love,

Pam and Peggy
